THIS WEEK'S ACTIVITIES
7/19 Thursday 6-7:30 pm AFTER WORK EXPLORATION OF TIKI CULTURE, Kona Club, 4401 Piedmont Ave, Oakland.
7/21 Saturday 12:00 noon - 1:30 PIZZA AND LIVE SALSA BAND, Arizmendi, 4301 San Pablo Ave (@ 43rd), Emeryville.
How will you know our group? Look for the lively group with the pink plastic Jesus statue.
Hey there, hipsters, geeks, freaks, nerds and average joes/jennies who live in the Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Alameda area. New to the area, newly single, old friends too busy with kids/work/school/new lover? Tired of going to "The City" every night, and wish you had more “East Bay” partners in crime? Let's form a loose, yet tight social network of people who actually do things together on a semi-regular basis. We don't have to go across the bridge for fun every night--there’s a whole world of adventures to be had right here. But heck, we can also take turns being the designated driver for events in "The City" and dashing for the last BART train.
Things of interest: tiki bars, dive bars, classy bars, live music (Mysterioso, Damon And The Heathens, you name it), events at The Crucible, burlesque, non-mainstream dance (salsa, swing, 80's retro), events at Dolores Park, downtown Oakland warehouse dance parties, grooving at Luka's, trying different restaurants, movies at The Parkway, impromptu post-Farmer's Market picnics and paddle boat races at Lake Merritt, cocktails at Easy Lounge after the Farmer's Market, weird DVD nights with a smorgasbord/potluck of everyone's favorite take out, viewing the lighted boat parade at Jack London Square, yard sale treasure hunts (for Burning Man costumes), lazy Saturday afternoons at Jupiter with pizza/pint/live music, bring your banjo/accordian/klezmer for a backyard BBQ with live music jam session, tour of Hangar One (Alameda), tour of Scharfenberger chocolate factory (Berkeley), tour of Takara Sake factory (Berkeley), roller derby. Let's go!
ALL genders, races, ages, sexual preferences, marital/dating statuses, socio-economic strata, political affiliations, religions welcome. MUSTS: Non-judgemental (see line above), adventurous.
