Having just relocatec to Niles from Oakland--I have been looking fo a good haunt. I have heard a bit about the Mojo Lounge--apparantly they even have live music?! Anyone know what kinda brew they have on tap? Hope its not a Bud-Miller-Coors crap thing! And does the bar have good selection in spirits? So far, I have tried the Florence , which has a great atmosphere and quirkiness like an prohibition era tunnel--lots of bikers hang there and its gets crowded and I tried a sports brewpub called Jack,,which was good, but nuthin to write home about. Anyone gotta solid reccomend for the area?

If you like a good selection of qualtiy brews on tap (15 or so) in the FMT then your best variety is over at Mission Pizza. off Washington. They make some pretty good pies too with some non traditional toppings that let you get creative...there is a little bar where you can sip while you wait for your pie or eat there, but more of a family vibe. Jack's is just aight, as you mentioned but i do find myself hitting it up pretty often. The best brews there are in the fall (ESB) and the winter when they brew their Anniversary Ale which is potent, flavorful and i think near 8%. I recommend telling the server that you want to get in their mug club (when you drink 20 pints) so you can get an extra 5 oz or so per pour in your own 210z + size mug.... secret code.. find yourself a non clear tankard style mug that is 26-28oz size and you will have no problem getting it filled the the top for the price of a 16oz...shhhh

So that is sort of the state of the nation beer wise but as far as a hangout to say mac on chics....hmmm fremont is sort of dry and make do type of place other than Saddlerack which tends to have a shitload of chics friday and particularly saturday. I am no cowboy..far from it and definitely not a country music fan but somehow i find myself going back LOL. Truth is there isnt much country being played there and there is a reason they call it country, because there are a lot of women involved (insert drumroll)..just kidding relax people....

There are some sort of cheesy chain type places with ok bars like Elephant Bar, Chevy's, Chilis, Outback, Claim Jumpers and the new PF Changs but i would call them hangouts really. Over in Newark at Jaque's on Tuesdays a friend of mine spins as well as at Mojo on Thursday I beleive which can be fun. Mojo has different scenes on different nights...some DJ dance type of crowd... sometimes hip hop... sometimes an older blues crowd with live acts pretty frequently. As you can tell i live here too.

    anyhow... hope that helped.
