I know Grand with Smitty's and The Alley and some other across the street
Then there is Van CVleef (not really a dive) with Radio down the road and don't know what else may be in the area over there

Thu, February 2, 2006 - 11:40 AMWe did the downtown Oakland thing on the Oaktown SantaCon...we hit Van Kleef, Radio, Ruby Room, Lake Merrit, and the Oasis, if I remember right. There's also the Uptown Lounge around there too.
Not that I'd be able to make it, as I'm sure to be crawled otu for a while after this weekend.

That would be at least 4 within a few blocks.

That new place on telly with the big neon guitar out front- where the Black Box theatre used to be.

There are a couple of other smaller bars in the produce and Jack London district too
I feel like an alcohloic knowing where all these places are.

The new Connolly's is at 48th & Telegraph, around the corner from me, plus Lanesplitter 2 across Tele from that. Silver Lion one block north.
They are trying very hard to gentrify the area. Lots of upscale eateries going in. -
