  • Sorry, can't make it.
I'll be setting up to vend at the Celtic Faire in Sonora.
    • This week's DJ's - 3/13/08

DJ Low-Life (New Wave City, 1984)
      DJ Starr (Shark Attack, BaGG)

If you haven't been to the Uptown, it's a great space- two big rooms, balcony, outdoor smoking patio (with sound!), full bar (hot bartenders!), large stage, and excellent sound and lights. Come check it out!
      • Sorry, can't make it - I'll be skiing in Tahoe.

I've been to the Uptown, and have a humorous story to tell about my visit.

While waiting for my friend's band to set up and start, I checked out the taps at the bar. Among other things, they had Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. "Allright!", I thought "I know what I'm drinking!".

After a few songs, I went to take another swig from my glass, but it was empty again, so I wandered over to the bar. The bartender wasn't there, but there was a tall, thin, moderately attractive 40-something black gal sitting at the bar. Her body language radiated irritation, and my guess was that she was tired of waiting for the bartender.

The bartender had been helping out at the other end of the bar, and when they returned, they looked at me and asked what I wanted to drink. I pointed at the gal sitting at the bar and said "Well, you'd better help her out first, because she was here before I was and I don't want to cut her out of line."

The bartender nodded at me and looked at the gal, only to ask her "What do you want?" Her reply was a triffle odd: "I want a blowjob". The bartender said "Ok", then turned and looked at me to ask "And what will you have?"

Rather than saying "I'll have what she's having", I turned away and proclaimed "I'M IN THE WRONG PLACE!".

Yeah, I had to look it up later - I hadn't known there was a drink by that name. Still, the first time in a strange bar and the women are askin' for blowjobs - it does lead one to wonder.
